A Culinary Landmark: Discovering Australia Dairy Company in Jordan, Hong Kong
Nestled in the bustling heart of Jordan, Hong Kong, at 47號 Parkes Street, lies an establishment that has become synonymous with authentic, no-frills Hong Kong-style dining: the Australia Dairy Company. Far more than just a typical eatery, this location represents a cherished piece of the city’s culinary heritage. For decades, it has served as a vital meeting point, a quick refueling station, and a reliable source of comforting, familiar flavors for locals and visitors alike. Its reputation precedes it, often drawing queues that snake down the street, a testament to the quality and consistency of the experience it offers. Stepping inside Australia Dairy Company is akin to stepping back into a classic Hong Kong cha chaan teng era, characterized by efficiency, communal seating, and an unwavering focus on delivering simple dishes executed perfectly.
The atmosphere inside is famously energetic. Tables are closely packed, service is swift—sometimes bordering on brisk—and the entire operation runs with the precision of a well-oiled machine. This environment is part of the charm; it encourages quick turnover and fosters a unique, shared dining experience where patrons often find themselves seated next to strangers, all united by their craving for the signature offerings. While the name might suggest a focus on dairy products, the menu spans a broad spectrum of classic Hong Kong breakfast and light meal staples, blending Western influences with local tastes in a way that only Hong Kong cuisine can master.
What keeps patrons returning to this specific location on Parkes Street, despite the myriad of dining options available across the territory, is the commitment to tradition and the sheer quality of their core offerings. It’s a place where the culinary philosophy is clear: focus on a few things and do them exceptionally well, day in and day out. This dedication to consistency has cemented its status not just as a restaurant, but as a cultural touchstone in the vibrant tapestry of Hong Kong’s food scene.
Key Highlights of the Australia Dairy Company Experience
The enduring popularity of the Australia Dairy Company can be attributed to several distinct features that define its unique appeal:
The Iconic French Toast: Perhaps the most celebrated item on the menu, the thick-cut French toast here is legendary. Prepared to achieve a perfect balance—crispy on the outside, incredibly soft and custardy within—it is often served piping hot, sometimes accompanied by a generous slab of butter or a drizzle of syrup. It exemplifies the successful fusion of East meets West that characterizes much of Hong Kong’s comfort food tradition.
Rapid, Efficient Service Model: The operational tempo at the Parkes Street location is legendary. Staff move with incredible speed, orders are taken and delivered almost instantaneously, and the entire process is optimized for high volume. This efficiency ensures that even during peak hours, the wait for your food is minimal, a crucial factor for busy city dwellers.
Classic Hong Kong Breakfast Staples: Beyond the toast, the restaurant excels at foundational dishes. Think perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, often served alongside thick slices of toast, or their signature macaroni soup. These simple combinations, when executed with the right technique and fresh ingredients, become deeply satisfying meals that evoke nostalgia and warmth.
The Communal Dining Atmosphere: Dining here is inherently social, whether you intend it to be or not. The close proximity of the tables fosters a lively, buzzing environment. It’s an authentic slice of everyday Hong Kong life, where the focus remains squarely on the food and the quick exchange of energy within the room.
The Australia Dairy Company at 47號 Parkes Street is more than just a place to eat; it is an institution that embodies the fast-paced, flavor-driven spirit of Hong Kong dining culture. It stands as a reliable beacon for those seeking authentic, high-quality comfort food prepared with decades of accumulated expertise. Visitors seeking an unpretentious, energetic, and genuinely delicious Hong Kong culinary experience will find this establishment a mandatory stop on their journey through Jordan.

We had to queue for the experience which we expected but we made our way to the front quite quickly.
The cafe is VERY busy but very efficient. To be honest, I was sure what to expect but found the food ok, nothing more. Perhaps it's my western palate. Don't get me wrong, everything I ate was well made but it was very subtle flavours.

This place was organized chaos and I loved it - there’s a long line in front of the restaurant and you wait to get seated with strangers.
At our square table of 4, my husband and I got to share a triangular half of the table while two other parties of 1 shared the other side of the table. Talk about maximizing space!
We went early in the day and had to wait about 10-15 mins; groups of 1-2 people got through much quicker than bigger ones. So id recommend splitting up.
I also loved all the food - egg pudding, egg sandwich, French toast, and milk tea. It was my favorite restaurant in Hong Kong.

We stopped by Australian Dairy Company in Hong Kong for a late-night dessert after dinner, arriving close to closing time. We thought we might be turned away, but the staff were incredibly welcoming and immediately got us a table.
We ordered a couple of puddings and some French toast, and it was hands down the best French toast we had in Hong Kong. Perfectly fluffy and rich. The service was quick, efficient, and pleasant, making the whole experience even better. Even at the tail end of the night, this spot delivered an amazing, classic Hong Kong diner experience. Highly recommend!

The Hype:
If you look up Australia Dairy Company in Kowloon, you’ll hear two things: 1) The scrambled eggs are god-tier, and 2) The service is notoriously rude, rushed, and the lines are insane. We went in prepared for battle, but our experience was totally different!
The Experience:
We arrived at 8:15 AM, expecting to queue up, but to our surprise—no line! We walked right in.
Even more shocking? The "abusive" service we were warned about was nowhere to be found. The staff was actually friendly! They let us have our own table (a luxury in HK!) and didn't rush us at all while we looked through the menu. It was a really pleasant start to the morning.
The Food:
We ordered the classic Breakfast Set:
• Egg Sandwich: The absolute highlight. The eggs lived up to the hype, incredibly fluffy and flavorful.
• Macaroni Soup: Classic HK comfort food.
• Milk Tea: So silkily smooth. You can tell why they are famous for this.
The Vibe:
The environment is cozy, crowded, and efficient—totally authentic Hong Kong style. The service was super quick once we ordered.
Verdict:
Don't let the scary stories keep you away! Maybe we just got lucky with the timing, but the food is absolutely worth it. Come early (around 8:15 AM) to beat the queue and enjoy some of the best eggs in the city.
Highly Recommended!

- Egg Sandwich ($24) The saltiness of the egg was just right with the white bread. It was decent, but nothing particularly special
- Chilled Steamed Milk Pudding ($35) This was quite delicious! It had a very rich and creamy milk flavor
We lined up for about 10 minutes before getting a seat. Since it was crowded, we had to share a table. The staff were very friendly. They were even thoughtful enough to provide an extra stool for us to put our bags on. Overall, it was a very pleasant dining environment.

Best food experience so far in HK, simple dishes that taste soooo damn good! Classic interior so glad hasn’t been changed and makes this place extra special. Staff are friendly & efficient. The macaroni soup is made in a beautiful chicken broth & the cold milk pudding I think is a must try. Being seated with others was a special touch also.

The eatery is rather small and cramped, so there’s a high chance of sharing a table with others. Service is exceptionally bad and they are always trying to rush you and chase you out of the store. My friend was in the middle of eating his meal and the staff took away his plate..
However, the food they serve is good! Do try their toast and milk custard which is their signature dish. We also ordered milk tea which is decent. Queue is extremely long and be prepared to wait for 30min-1 hour on weekends during breakfast timings.

First time trying Hong Kong breakfast, and had a really good experience!
The French toast had the perfect combo of savoury and sweet, with a little bit of crisp. The eggs were nice and buttery, pairs well with fluffy white toast! The chicken soup with macaroni noodles was also comforting, and the HK black tea was the perfect drink to pair.
Service is super quick, and really cool to experience the hustle and bustle of it all!
Would highly recommend!

Food was good, you cannot missed ordering their famous almond and egg jelly desserts.
Highly recommend that you order both in hot than cold as you will not be able to fully taste the fragrance and texture.
Milk tea was Hong Kong style and their French toast was generally alright.

The food was delicious, extremely quick service, we were sat on a table with people we didn’t know but soon realised this is very normal. Very kind people there, recommending us items from the menu and a huge thank you to the lady that paid for our breakfast without saying anything!!! It really made our day.
Highly recommend for quick but delicious food.
